Led by certified trainer Ashley Lassila, our program is grounded in how dogs naturally learn and think. Using positive reinforcement, we motivate your dog with praise, food rewards, and clear guidance—making training enjoyable and effective. Dogs become willing participants, and pet parents gain the skills to “speak their dog’s language.”

Group Dog Training Classes

We offer a variety of classes at the Behavior Barn to meet your goals and your dog’s learning stage:

AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy (6 weeks)

For puppies 6 months and under. Teaches core puppy skills like sit, stay, leash walking, attention, and early manners. Includes 10 minutes of puppy playtime each class to encourage healthy socialization with other dogs and people.

Advanced Manners (4 weeks)

A continuation of our Basic Manners or S.T.A.R. Puppy class. Adds real-world distractions like staying when others move nearby, polite leash walking in public, and impulse control with increasing challenges.

Basic Manners (4 weeks)

For dogs of all ages. Focuses on everyday behaviors such as sit, down, stay, loose-leash walking, building calmness, and focus on the handler.

Canine Good Citizen (CGC) (6 weeks)

Prepares for the AKC CGC test. Focuses on social and behavioral skills like sitting while a stranger approaches, passing another dog on leash, and calmly accepting petting and handling.

Tricks Class (4 weeks)

Fun and engaging! Teaches beginner tricks like “spin,” “roll over,” “sit in a box,” and more. Dogs can earn their AKC Novice Trick Dog Title at the end of the course.

Puppy Playtime – Every Thursday at 5:15 PM

Supervised playtime for puppies under 6 months. A safe space for puppies to socialize and burn energy while their owners chat directly with Ashley about behavior concerns, training tips, and at-home challenges.

$5 per session
Pre-registration required
Must follow daycare enrollment requirements for all vaccines and preventatives. See Doggie Daycare.

Training Through Daycare

Does your dog attend daycare with us? We work during the day with your dog on simple commands such as “sit,” “wait,” and “leave it” which is perfect for reinforcing socialization, good manners, and practicing specific cues. See our Doggie Day Care for more information.

Requirements

To join any training class, daycare, or group play session, your dog must have:

Rabies
Distemper/Parvo (DHPP)
Bordetella (kennel cough)
Negative fecal test
Leptospirosis
Vet-approved intestinal parasite & flea/tick/heartworm prevention
Must be age appropriately spayed/neutered according to veterinarian recommendation.

Note: We do not accept over-the-counter preventatives like Frontline Plus.
